The gardens around this Kent house are very varied and can be broadly sectioned into six parts – the walled garden, the rose garden, the herbaceous borders, the lily pond, the Italian garden and the wild garden.

Hundreds of years have seen these gardens change but their current design is mostly due to Reginald Blomfield’s 1898 work. This can be seen in the topiaried box, the vast yew hedge and long herbaceous borders.

The gardens are open from 1st March to 1st November and cost £5 for adults to visit and are free for children. The house is situated outside of Ashford in Kent, only a mile away from the M20, making it easily accessible from London.
