The Practical Gardener – Six week course

Understand how to get the best from your garden with this six week course giving hands on, practical experience of essential gardening skills and the knowledge to make the plants in your garden thrive with Fiona Abrahams, Hadlow College.  

 

A practical session learning techniques to fill your garden with plants for free, taking home some of Godinton’s choice plants.

 

Prepare your garden for the growing season with practical advice on the pruning of shrubs and climbers, preparing herbaceous borders, glasshouse work and seasonal planting.

 

 

Viv Hunt, head Gardener, will demonstrate various different methods of plant support in the gardens and then make your own willow obelisk or frame with local craftsman, Alan Sage.

 

A practical session learning the secrets to fill your garden with free plants – cuttings, division, seed collection.

 

A morning of practical advice on how to grow your own fruit and veg to include rotation and successional planting, companion planting and composting.

 

Topics to include pruning of shrubs and climbers, mulching, winter protection and plants of seasonal interest.

Bring your sewing machine, cutting equipment and scraps to start an exciting new quilt.  Exchange two fat quarters with others in the class to add to your palette and make some new friends in the process.  Tea and Coffee provided.
